Surgeon X Enhanced Comic App app for iPhone and iPad

Surgeon X Enhanced Comic is a multi-content app version of the new comic, which is set against the backdrop of an antibiotic apocalypse in near future London, Rosa Scott, a brilliant and obsessive surgeon becomes Surgeon X, a vigilante doctor who uses experimental surgery and black market drugs to treat patients. Surgeon X risks everything to save lives, but ultimately ends up warping her medical oath to suit her own decisions.

SARA KENNEY, documentary, factual drama and animation filmmaker (Angels and Ghosts, BBC, Channel 4, Discovery) and master artist JOHN WATKISS (Sandman, Conan, Deadman) join forces with KAREN BERGER, award-winning and Vertigo-founding editor to produce this unique, darkly comic medical thriller, which will horrify and delight in equal measure.

The App has many different layers of content to consume. The reader can click on various posters and screens in the background, which reveal animations which tell us more about the storyworld. It might be a futuristic political campaign or an advert for the latest bacterial busting product. ‘Behind the Balloons’ is a feature, which allows you to click on certain speech balloons and hear from the experts who informed the story as well as the creators of the comic. There are also audio documentaries embedded in certain panels.
